Background

Rhino and stag beetles let children watch the whole journey from larva to pupa to adult, a vivid lesson in the life cycle. But adults live only a few months, and some worry kids may come to see insects as a short-term activity, so visiting forests or nature centres could teach more. Either way, caring through to the end is the real lesson.
